Women’s hockey team selected to play at Frozen Fenway 2017

Grab your peanuts and Cracker Jacks—and your skates. Connecticut College is ready to take over one of America’s most famous ballparks.

The Camels women’s hockey team will take part in Frozen Fenway 2017, a series of hockey and ice skating events hosted at Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox. They will face off against NESCAC rival Bowdoin College Thursday, Jan. 12, at 4 p.m.

“The opportunity to play an outdoor game at Fenway will be an amazing experience for our student-athletes,” said Head Coach Kristin Steele. “We are fortunate to have this chance and look forward to sharing it with the College community.”

The women’s hockey team is coming off a stellar season that saw them collect a program record 15 wins, including a 3-0 postseason victory over Hamilton College in February. The Camels have advanced to the semifinal round of the NESCAC playoffs in three of the past four seasons.

“Representing the NESCAC alongside Bowdoin is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and it is a great honor to be recognized with the other teams lined up for Frozen Fenway,” said Julie Beattie ’17, an All-NESCAC performer last season. “We are looking forward to bringing a big win in Boston back to Connecticut College.”
